The SPACE BLOGS proyect was launched during the school year 2012-13 and it is being developed throughout the third cycle of Primary and Secondary. We use the BLOGGER platform for it´s simplicity and because students can access a range of applications simply by signing in their Google accounts.
The SPACE BLOGS proyect is made up of a CLASSROOM BLOG (Space) where information, links and tasks are published and a series of TEAM BLOGS which students set up, customize and use for publishing tasks. The reason for having a series of blogs for students is that it provides students with a space to explore, and customize as they like.
When students begin working on the proyect in 5th grade they are quite familiar with a series of concepts and procedures; they have Google mail addresses and they send and reply to emails. They use Google apps like Drive, Doc or Slides and they are able to look for basic information or images in Internet.
The first tasks consists in joining the classroom blog and getting used to signing in and out of the blogs. After that, they will learn to edit a post, save it as a draft and finally to publish it.
During blog sessions, we often talk about blog "etiquette", and how important it is to respect others. This way, students learn to think before publishing anything negative about anyone and they do learn to comment positively on posts published by their classmates.
